Acrobatics

Introduction
What Is Acrobatics?
Aerial awareness is the sense of being in the air and knowing how to orient yourself. Much of it can be learned from the introduction of simply being upside down, be it from handstands or hanging. Beginning to learn to flip takes this to another level by incorporating much of the processing as a reflex.

Additional Information
Performing a flip such as a backflip requires processing at such a speed that you cannot react by what you see yourself doing, but rather are forced to react by anticipating what you will be doing half a second from now. While it is not necessary to achieve such a high level of aerial awareness for your daily life, gaining an understanding of your orientation in space will improve your sense of balance, and can help prevent you from becoming disoriented during a fall.
